As the year 2010 came to an end so did our final Qtr for Jack Petchey Achievement Award Winners. This Quarter Award went to 11 year old Cameron Matthews.

Cam has progressed from our pilot project of National Skills Awards through to representing the club in competition. He has shown his mettle in both bouts to date and is growing as a person by developing his self confidence and belief. He is making great strides in his boxing and the club are all very proud of his achievements to date!

Our Qtr 3 2009 Outstanding Achiever Jack Perry proudly attended the Essex Regional Jack Petchey Awards evening this week with along with a host of fellow achievers from many clubs and activities across the county. The event was staged at Chelmsford's Civic Theatre, where the evening commenced with singing and entertainment. Jack and his fellow award winners were presented with commemorative medals to mark the occasion, and it seemed fitting that he was CABC's last award winner in 2009. This completed our first full year of being supported by the foundation, and 2009 was indeed the foundation's 10 anniversay. We remain proud of our association with Jack petchey, and would urge any groups or clubs to contact them to see if they can be of help.

JK has made tremendous progress through the first qtr of 2010. His enthusiasm for training has doubled and he has cemented his place as a dependable member of the club. He picked up an award in this period from our hosts SD School of Martial Arts for Best Newcomer to Boxing, and has also completed the Sport Section of his Duke of Edinburgh Awards. Based on his boxing progress, JK managed to satisfactorily show progress in all main basic areas of the sport. This improvement has resulted in him being given a trial place in the competition squad where he has again worked very hard to improve. Jack has chosen to purchase some new sparring gear for the busy CABC sessions

Jack has been with the club a little while now and has become a valued member of the squad and was indeed voted 2008 Best Junior Club Member. He has however stood out this quarter because of the progress he has made in his all round game. Jack has progressed through regular sparring to a level that leaves him nearly ready to compete. This improvement has lead to Jack accompanying the club boxers on sparring trips to other clubs through which his learning has further improved.

Jack has decided to put his funds to the earlier accrued money and allow the club purchase the new competition gloves.

Jack Petchey Award Winner Q2 2009 Daniel JonesJack Petchey Award Winner Q2 2009 Daniel Jones

Daniel has made a huge impression with everyone at the club since joining a couple of months ago. His dedication and hard work in the sessions has paid dividends with a rapid, steep learning curve. This was highlighted in November by his invitation to the boxing squad where it is hoped his learning the ropes will speed up even more.Already attending shows to support his new team mates it won't be long before Daniel joins them in competition. A polite and unassuming young man, it was no surprise he received the majority verdict of the coaches for the JP Award. Daniels request was to have a new Round Timer / Clock which was duly purchased.

Those of you who have been following the site news stories will know it was never really in doubt. Whilst there have been many improved performances in training amongst the non carded members, Deano had a Qtr 1 that was head and shoulders above anyone elses. Not only in his bouts but also his training and his efforts saw him reap the rewards.

His vigilant training and weight maintenance alowed him to collect the Essex and Eastern Counties Schools titles along the way. Enthusiasm spread throughout the club and a new feeling of optimism seems to heve spread through the members.

Dean decided he would like the club to have a body bag for coaches to use whilst doing their padwork.

Jamie turned his seaon around in the final quarter by hitting winning form and further improving his training and competition levels.
